In June 1997, an earthquake that measured
five on the Richter scale shook the island of
Terceira in the Azores. This was followed by almost
1,000 aftershocks measuring four or more.
As a result of this type of activity, the
sea floor is constantly rising and
falling in this vicinity.

200,000 B.C. – People inhabited Atlantis.
100,000 B.C. or before – Modern homo sapiens in Europe.
70,000 B.C. – Uighurs to north of Burma from Gobi area.
55,000 B.C. – Cro-Magnons in Europe.
